Obituary for Carol Jean Phillips
Carolyn Jean (Lawson) Phillips, age 70, of Greenwood, KY passed away from this life to her eternal home on May 6, 2023 at UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington, KY and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Staley and Bro. Danny Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the Flat Rock Cemetery.
She was born on November 21, 1952 at Scott Co. Hospital in Oneida, TN to the late Georgia Lee (Barnes) Lawson and Enmon Lawson. Carol was a loving and devout wife, mother, grandmother, “to be” great grandmother, and sister. She devoted her life to raising her four beautiful children and later spoiling, then sending home her grandchildren. Carol enjoyed camping, spending time with family, and chasing the grandkids around in all their involvement in sports and afterschool activities. She was a member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church family very much whose love and prayers carried her through her last days.
In addition to her Mother and Father, Carol is also preceded in death by five brothers: Clois Lawson, Willard Lawson, James Harold Lawson, Charles Lawson, Bobby Clayton Lawson; three sisters: Joyce Ann Watson, Linda Lou Phillips, and Jewel Faye Trosper; Mother and Father-in-Law: Hubert and Lorena Phillips; and other family and friends.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of fifty three years, Ronnie Lee Phillips of Greenwood, KY; a favorite first daughter, Katina Davis and husband Jamie of Bronston, KY; a favorite son, Michael Phillips and wife Jammie of Greenwood, KY; a favorite middle daughter, Heather West and husband Andy of Burnside, KY; a favorite baby daughter, Stacy Starrett and husband Coty of Pine Knot, KY; One brother, Earl Lawson of Ohio; two sisters Betty Lowe and husband Mike of Oneida, TN; Phyllis Jenkins and husband Danny of Oakdale, TN; Grandchildren, whom she called her babydolls: Brittany Mckee and potential husband Courtney Conley, Makamie Rice and husband Peyton, Kellie Phillips, Melanie Phillips, Kyle West, Andrea West, Colton Starrett, Adyson Starrett, Arianna Starrett, Cambria Starrett; One Great-granddaughter she was yet to meet, Elliza Rice; and other family members and friends.
