Obituary for Cleda Faye Vanover

Cleda Faye Vanover, age 76 years, 3 months, and 19 days of Whitley City, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home..

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery.

She was born August 29, 1944 in Whitley County, Kentucky to Rev. Arnold Canada and Mary Martha Bell Canada. Faye was a member of the Taylor Ridge Baptist Church. She loved tracing her family roots through genealogy and working jigsaw puzzles. Faye also enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Toby Vanover, a daughter, Terri Vanover Smith, a brother, Arnold Canada, Jr., and a sister, Nancy Todd.

Survivors include her husband of many years and father of her children, Hoyatt “Sonny” Vanover, a son, Tim Vanover and his wife, Susie of Whitley City, a daughter, Melissa Phillips and her husband, Mark, of Pine Knot, brothers, Jim Canada of Whitley City, Gary Canada and his wife, Darlene, of Whitley City, and Robert Canada and his wife, Wanda, of Ragland, Alabama, sisters, Glenna Clark and her husband, Elmer, Ruth Sumner and her husband, Bob, and Jane Bryant, all of Whitley City, grandchildren, Dustin Smith, Samantha Cox, Betty Cox, Dylan Smith, Kayli Gregory, Lauryn Phillips, and Molly Phillips and great grandchildren, Nathan Neely, Coleman Neely, Maddison Smith, Lukas Smith, Evy Smith, and Nash Gregory.
