Obituary for David Allen "Dave" Hamlin
David Allen Hamlin, or Dave as he was known by everyone, died Saturday November 30, 2019 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset, Kentucky, being 64 years, 11 months and 18 days old.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. William Kilby and Bro. Crestin Burke officiating. Teddy Cash, Wayne Bryant, Greg Bryant, Caiden Hamlin, Russell Hughes, and Steve Perry served as pallbearers. Burial was in the East Pine Knot Memorial Gardens.
Dave was born in Clermont County, Ohio, on December 12, 1954 to Archie Hamlin and Elsie West Hamlin, both of whom precede him in death. Dave spent his early years in southeastern Ohio until his family returned to Pine Knot where Dave graduated high school. He met the love of his life, Wanda Bryant, and they married on August 9, 1976.
Dave began driving a truck while still in high school. He drove for Flav-O-rich Dairies for a time, running an early route and driving a gravel truck in the afternoon. Soon he began driving a gravel truck full time and established his own company, Dave Hamlin Trucking. Dave was well liked and respected by everyone he came into contact with. He was a man of few words and deep convictions. He was always willing to help and encourage anyone who needed it. Dave was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church Of God.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Wanda Hamlin, sons, Brian and Kelli Hamlin, of Pine Knot and Craig and Allison Hamlin, of Stearns, sisters, Patty Perry, Pine Knot, Rhonda Hughes, Hamersville, Ohio and a brother, Scott Hamlin, of Amelia, Ohio, and six grandchildren, Caiden, Hannah, Adaleigh, Kainen, Makenna and Myles.
