Obituary for Emitt Miller
Emitt Miller, age 93, passed away May 8, 2019 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie King officiating. Burial was in the Barren Fork Cemetery.
Emitt was born in Barthel, Kentucky to Lawrence and Ethel Miller. He served in the Navy in WWII. He married Pearl on February 20, 1946 and their marriage lasted seventy one years until her death. Emitt loved singing gospel music, serving as choir leader at various churches as well as singing in gospel quartets. He attended church regularly as long as he was able. He was a member of Walker's Chapel Baptist Church.
Emitt was also an accomplished mandolin player and loved playing music with his friends. He finished his working career at Big M Discount where he loved meeting and helping people.
Emitt is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Survivors include his son, Gary Miller and his wife, Janie, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, two grandsons, Andrew Miller and his wife, Gina, of Lexington, Kentucky and Brett Miller and his wife, Carrie, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and a brother, Eddie Miller and his wife, Carol, of Stearns, Kentucky.
