Obituary for George W. Jones Jr.
George W. Jones Jr., age 92, of Stearns, Kentucky, widower of, Evelyn Worley Jones, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, at Signature Health Care in Pine Knot, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 25, 2022, in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Angel Cemetery.
He was born January 25, 1930, in Jones Hollow Community, in Stearns, Kentucky to George Washington Jones Sr. and Susie Clark Jones. He served in the United States Army and upon returning he worked for Stearns Coal and Lumber Company until the last mine closed in 1987. George enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was the last of 19 siblings.
Preceding him in death were his parents and 18 siblings.
Survivors include sons, Ronald Jones, and wife, Sheila, and Warren Jones, and wife, Cindy, daughter, Donna Craft, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
