Obituary for Geraldine Cordell (Barhorst)
Geraldine Cordell,age 81 years, 8 months, and 6 days, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her home in Stearns and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Tucker and Bro. Carter Huckabee officiating. Burial was in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 29, 1941 to the late Arnold and Lillie Caudill Barhorst. Geraldine accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the Hill Top Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going on family outings, camping, and going to church. She was a kind person that always put others ahead of herself. Geraldine loved flowers, gardening, dogs, and cats. Most of all she loved her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Venson Cordell, whom she married June 7, 1957 one brother, Leroy Charles Barhorst, one half sister, Barbara Lee Barhorst Hicks, one son, Daniel Lee Cordell, two grandsons, Jerry Lee Cordell and Jeremy Ray Cordell, and two daughters-in-law, Diana Joan Wright Cordell and Opal Kidd Cordell.
Surivors incude three children, Venson Denton Cordell, Jr. and his wife, Mary, Jimmie Ray Cordell, Sr., and Laura Ann Cordell, all of Stearns, a sister, Katherine Barhorst Purvis and companion, Tim Colyer, of Silver Grove, Kentucky, a brother, Michael Charles Barhorst and his wife, Tina, of Warsaw, Kentucky, five grandsons, Jimmie Ray Cordell, Jr. and his wife, Shelly, Venson Denton Cordell III and his wife, Chaslin, Jason Wayne Cordell and his wife, Samantha, John Curtis Cordell and companion, Jerri Morrow, all of Stearns, and Joshua Wayne Cordell and companion, Savannah Bacon, of Elsmere, Kentucky, three granddaughters, Vanessa Kidd Roysdon of Helenwood, Tennessee, Jacklyn Kidd and Kassidy Leann Cordell, both of Stearns, twenty three great grandchildren, Tamara Rollins Slaven, Laura Rollins, Gracie Ann Cordell, Zachary Cordell, Bailey Cordell, Owen Cordell, Breanna Cordell, Madison Cordell, Landon Cordell, Jenny Cordell, Bryer Cordell, Gavin Cordell, Tammy Cordell, Felicia Cordell, Sarah Roysdon, Jessica Roysdon, Brooklyn Roysdon, Brittany Roysdon, Levi Bacon, Joey Bacon, Gracie Cordell, Daniel Cordell, and Makenna Cordell.
