Obituary for Glenna D. Anderson (Trammell)

Glenna D. (Trammell) Anderson, age 84 years, 9 months, and 20 days, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, February 18, 2022, to her eternal home with her Savior and Lord. Glenna was the light of her home and a blessing to everyone who knew her. She was laid to rest following graveside services on Sunday, February 20, 2022, in the Jones Cemetery, Strunk, Kentucky.

Glenna was born April 29, 1937, in Strunk, Kentucky, to Paul M Trammell and Rose (Jones) Trammell. As a little girl, she always loved school and dreamed of becoming a teacher. After high school graduation, she pursued her dream by earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Cumberland College and began her reaching career at Silerville School, a one-room schoolhouse where she taught multiple grades. Next in her career, Glenna was incited to teach at the newly constructed Pine Knot Elementary School, and there, Glenna taught second grade for 27 years. “Mrs. Anderson” had great influence upon her hundreds of students over the years, and in recent years she marveled that many of the little boys grew up to be ministers of the Gospel. All of her pupils were given generous lessons in love, a scholarly education, and, in the spring of the year, unforgettable servings of her famous strawberry pies.

Glenna was a member of Upper Marsh Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and helped lead many youngsters to a faith in Jesus Christ. She was also talented in singing at church and played the piano for nearly 70 years. Glenna was known for her kindness and ability to see the good in everyone. She never had a harsh word to say about anyone, and she was cherished as a prayer warrior. It was not uncommon for her to receive phone calls anytime of the day from fir4neds or family asking her to help them pray about a burden, a trial, or a sickness. She was a great cook; she was everyone’s favorite aunt, teacher, friend; she was a goldy Christian Lady.

Glenna and Gary W. Anderson were happily married in 1956, and they were an inspiration to many young couples through the years. They showed others what it meant to be the best of friends throughout their 66 years of marriage. Their marriage was blessed with daughter Kimberly Trammell and husband Jerry; grandson Jacob Trammell and wife Megan; and the apples of Glenna’s eye, great-grandchildren, KayLynn, Oliver, Emersyn, and Amelia. Glenna adored their grandbabies with all her heart. She often remarked that watching those precious little ones frow was what she and Gary were living for.

Preceding her in death were her parents; Paul and Rose; and infant son; and her brother, Jim Trammell whose recent passing was extremely hard for Glenna to bear. Rest assured that Glenna is enjoying her homecoming with those dear ones in Heaven now. If she could, she would invite everyone to make ready to join them too.

Glenna is survived by her loving husband; Gary W. Anderson; precious daughter Kimberly Trammell (& husband Jerry) of Pine Knot, Kentucky; sister June Strunk of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; grandson Jacob Trammell (& wife Megan) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Great grandchildren, KayLynn, Oliver, Emersyn, and Amelia; Gary’s little sister whom she helped raise, Debi VanHoose (&husband Larry) of Somerset, Kentucky; and a host of cherished other nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces: and beloved relatives near and far, as well as many precious friends.

In the last few years, Glenna loved to sing at church “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You,” thought her voice was growing weak. No doubt, she is joyfully singing with a pure and strong voice in Heaven today.
