Herschel Reed age 87 years and 14 days of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at his home. A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Crossroads Baptist Church with Bro. Grant Hasty officiating. Burial followed in the Swiss Colony Cemetery in London, Kentucky.
He was born September 6, 1926 in Johnson County, Kentucky to Alonzo Reed and Beulah (Lemaster) Reed. Herschel was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed reading the Holy Bible, hunting, fishing, gardening, as well as walking in the woods, training bird dogs and horses. Herschel loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a daughter, Karen Brummett, brothers, Arnold, Edward, and Kenneth Reed, and a sister, Adeline Fannin.
Survivors include his wife, Jan (Slaven) Reed whom he married, October 11, 2001; sons, Keith Watters and wife, Patti, of Peking Indiana and Ben Watters and wife, Becky, of Palmira, Indiana; daughters, Beth Gregory and husband, Scott, of Eubank, Kentucky, Marty Williams and husband, Tim, of London, Kentucky, Jill Meece and husband, David, of Somerset, Kentucky, Julie Keith and husband, John, of Cookeville, Tennessee, Anne Jensen and husband, Jeff, of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Sara King and husband, William, of Marshes Siding, Kentucky; brothers, James Reed and wife, Eula, of Orlando, Florida, Danny Reed and wife, Bobbi, of Greensboro, Maryland, and Sammy Reed and wife, Jewel, of Oil Springs, Kentucky; sisters, Bonnie Stapleton of Volga, Kentucky, Helen Jean Kelly and husband, Jack, and Judy Bowen and husband, Woody, of Flat Gap, Kentucky; 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
