Obituary for James Edward "Pete" Lewis

James Edward "Pete" Lewis, age 80 years, 2 months, and 3 days of the Marshes Siding community passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 3, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery.

He was born November 26, 1939 in Barthell to Virgil Lewis and Minnie Jones Lewis. Pete served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army and was a member of the Kinne-Slaven Post of the American Legion in Stearns. He had worked for the United States Forest Service and was a retired auto mechanic, having worked for Buzz Duncan Garage for many years. Pete loved the outdoors and could be found many times hunting or fishing. He also enjoyed cutting wood and whittling and loved family gatherings. But the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Nadean Crabtrree Lewis, brothers, Eston Lewis, Virgil "Pap" Lewis, Larry Lewis, and Lloyd Lewis, and sister Othelia, Lela, Mildred, Joyce, and Fayrene.

Survivors include sons, Ricky Longmire of Whitley City, Richard Longmire and his wife, Sunshine, of Parkers Lake, and Christopher Longmire and his wife, Phoebe, of Pine Knot, daughters, Lindy Smith of Marshes Siding, Tammy Pemberton and her husband, Tony, of Elgin, Tennessee, and Martha Lewis of Marshes Siding, sisters, Evalee Duncan of Revelo, Ella Mae Smith of Muncie, Indiana, Nelda Martin, and Carolyn Helbert both of Revelo, nineteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
