Obituary for Jean Heineman

Marthajean Claire Heineman, age 79 years, 7 months, and 26 days, passed away from this life at the Oneida Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oneida, Tennessee on Monday, August 10, 2020 and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral Services were held Friday, August 14, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Whitley City First Baptist Church. Burial wasin the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens.

Jean was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 15, 1940 to the late Reverend Benjamin Franklin Meney and Martha (Whiting) Meney. Jean attended the Appalachian Bible Institute in Beckley, West Virginia and later went on to attend the Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Jean married her husband, Frederick Louis Heineman, on May 27, 1967. She settled in the McCreary County area in 1974 and got a job with the McCreary County School District, for whom she worked over 30 years. Jean was a Christian and a member of the Whitley City First Baptist Church since she moved to the area. She was deeply passionate and active in her church by singing, teaching Sunday school and GA’s, driving the church bus, and overseeing the children’s program. She was a member and a counselor at the Emmanuel Bible Camp in Barbourville, Kentucky. During her free time, she enjoyed singing, playing piano, watching western shows, and spending time with her beloved family.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; and one sister, Priscilla Ann Meney.

Jean is survived by a large host of loving family, including: her husband; two sons, Richard Nelson Heineman and wife, Vicki, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, John Louis Heineman and wife, Wendy, of Franklin, Tennessee; two daughters, Robin Michelle Strunk and husband, John, of Whitley City, Heidi Jean Hedges and husband, Eric, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; three brothers, Benjamin Meney and wife, Barbara, of Georgia, George Meney and wife, Michelle, of Delaware, and John Timothy Meney and wife, Sue, of Kokomo, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
