Obituary for Joan Smith (Wilson)
Joan Wilson Smith, age 76 years, 11 months, and 10 days passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
She was born July 5, 1945, in Stearns, Kentucky to Walter Wilson and Beatrice Strunk Wilson. Joan enjoyed walking, doing puzzles, reading, needle work, caring for animals, and loved children. She was saved and baptized into the Bethel Baptist church in Muncie Indiana.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Alfred Wilson, and sisters, Cora Smith, Lora Maxwell, and Mamie Daugherty.
Survivors include sisters, Alice Erbaugh, and Connie Kidd, and husband, Ronnie.
Joan was a natural caregiver. What started as helping a friend care for her children turned into an extended family for us all. She played a large role in the upbringing of Jamie Arnett and James Ross, her love extended to Jamie’s children: David Rednour and Amber Raymer earning her the title of Granny, and continued to grow through their children Zackary, Shane, Riley and Ryan, and also Zacks daughters, Lola Rae and Mila Rose, and Shane’s daughter, Addison.
