Obituary for Leon Singleton
Leon Singleton, age 80 years and 12 days, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Father Jay VanHandorf officiating Burial was in the Singleton Family Cemetery.
He was born December 20, 1938 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to Worley Singleton and Eria Worley Singleton. Leon was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed with the National Park Service and worked at the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, watching UK basketball and football, and most especially family gatherings.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter, Deborah Ann Singleton, a brother, Jack Singleton, and sisters, Margie Brown and Marilyn Singleton.
Survivors include a son, Xavier Singleton and his wife, Bronica, of Whitley City, daughters, Kellie Singleton of Whitley City and Rebecca Singleton of Somerset, brothers, Doug Singleton and his wife, Sue, of Pine Knot and Walter Singleton of Whitley City, sisters, Libby Cooke and her husband, William, of West Chester, Pennsylvania and Rosemary O'Brien of Cincinnati, Ohio, and three grandchildren, Gunnar Singleton, Garric Singleton, and Ivann Singleton.
