Lincoln Walls went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 30, 2020. Lincoln was born in Co-operative, Kentucky on January 20, 1928 to the son of a coal miner Ernest Walls and Myrtle (Logan) Walls. In 1953, he married Glenys (King) Walls.

Private graveside services were Monday, November 2, 2020 at 2:00pm held at the Pine Knot Cemetery with Bro. Darrell Waters and Bro. Landon Sexton officiating.

Link was a brick layer who laid his bricks with perfection. He was a building contractor and built many homes and businesses in McCreary and Scott Counties. Early in his career, he laid the block foundation for the church house in the Blue Heron Community. Later on, he owned and operated two different coal mines and had a fleet of coal trucks and lastly, he owned a carpet business.

As a young man Link served in the army during the Korean Conflict. In his early years he enjoyed playing a fiddle and a guitar with his father and with his friends. Link was an avid fisherman. He loved to ride horseback in the woods with his friends. In recent years, he loved riding in the woods in his truck. Link had many stories about these outdoor adventures and about the people who were part of these adventures.

Link was a natural born cook, and had many specialties including pinto beans, potato soup, and fried fish. Anybody who ate his corn bread said it was the best they had ever eaten!

Link had the gift of hospitality. He was very fond of everyone of his many friends. One friend described him accurately by saying “he had a big heart.”

Link loved his family. He was a Christian and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Link is survived by a brother William Walls AKA “Pheb” and one granddaughter Amanda Walls. Other family members; Patricia Walls, Jean Christenson, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Glenys of 43 years, his son Robert Walls, his parents, a sister Reba Jean Walls, and a brother Rondal Walls.

Honorary friends include Noble Smith, Sherill Owens, Logan Ross, Charlie Ross, Warren Logan, Larry Wallen, Tim Dixon, Steve Hall, Lee Armstrong, Charles and Edna Bryant, and Phil Miller.

Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Lincoln Walls.

I am so sorry to learn of Linc's passing. He would never let me address him as "Mr. Walls" when at the clinic. It was an honor to care for him during his cancer journey at our clinic in Huntsville. He was always giving me cooking tips and would happily bring the staff lunches of pinto beans and cornbread or potato soup which we greatly enjoyed. He will always be a memorable patient for me. Prayers of comfort for the family.
