Obituary for Marlainna Terry (Herron)
Marlainna Donn Terry, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away on October 12, 2023 and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk funeral Home.
Marlainna was born in Somerset, Kentucky, to Jimmy Herron Jr. and Diana Jones Stanley. She was a highly accomplished individual who graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in social work and immediately enrolled at the University of Louisville and earned her master’s degree. She then went on to use her education to become an effective and compassionate Social Worker. Marlainna was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized on her mothers 40th birthday. She was immensely proud of her sons; her boys were the light of her life and her most proud moments were those being their mom. She was a generous soul who enjoyed helping others and listening to music.
Preceding her in death was her grandmother, Ruth Ann Jones.
Survivors include her parents, Tim Grooms, who was really a father to her, sons, Hughston Terry and Deegun Terry and their father, Justin Terry; sister, Valerie Herron; stepsister, Tracee Lotz; stepbrother, Matthew Stanley; grandfather, John Jones; special cousins, Macee, Ethan, Zack, Leanze, and Darah; special friend, Tyler Hardison; uncles, Don Jones (Lisa) and Byan Herron; aunt Beth Stephens (Wayne); great aunt, Wally (Wallena) Hinkle, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who mourn her passing.
The family of Marlainna will be holding a celebration of life in her memory. The date and time are to be determined. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has been chosen.
