Obituary for Marlo Lee Sumner
Marlo Lee Sumner, age 50 years, 10 months, and 29 days passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at her home in Marshes Siding, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Memorial services were held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Whitley City Church of God with Bro. Braxton King and Bro. Bruce Dixon officiating.
She was born February 5, 1971 in Somerset, Kentucky, to Larry Sumner and Charletta McDonald Sumner. Marlo graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a master’s degree in education and was also the co-owner of Larry’s Mini Mart. She had been employed by the McCreary County School District for twenty-six years. Marlo loved the University of Kentucky Athletics, her dog, Sassy, and playing high school basketball. She enjoyed boating, lake activities, and coaching girls’ softball. Marlo loved endlessly Taylor and Tyler and was totally devoted to them.
Preceding her in death were her parents, maternal grandparents, Clarence and Evelyn McDonald, paternal grandparents, Mark and Jean Sumner, and brother, Terry Wayne “Sputnik” McDonald.
Survivors include brother Mark Sumner, and wife, Stephanie, nephew, Larry Tyler Sumner, niece, Taylor Mae Sumner, nephews, Christopher Cole Jones, Jonathan Tyler Jones, and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved.
