Obituary for Mel Stephens
Mellavee Stephens, age 81 years, 9 months, and 3 days, passed away Wednesday, February 10,2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God with Bro. William Kilby officiating. Burial was in the T. Chitwood Cemetery.
She was born Sunday, May 7, 1939 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Langley Arnett and Martha Risner. Mel was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle. She enjoyed going to church, vacations, her houseplants, and playing cornhole and horseshoes. Mel loved caring for children and ran a nursery in her home for quite some time. She kept in touch with some of those children.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her stepmother, Ruth Morris Arnett, a brother, Marvin Arnett, a sister, Ella Mae Reed, and stepsisters, Carol Mae Murray, and Mary Lynn Arnett.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Glenn Stephens, a son, Mark Stephens, stepchildren, Ronnie Stephens, and his wife, Leslie, Karen Lee Shields, and her husband, Steve, and Teri Townsend, a brother, Morris Arnett, sisters, Marie Roberts, Martha Jean Bryant, Joyce Laverne Howard, and Kay Bandy, grandchildren, Lacey, Sonia, Todd, Matthew, Sierra, Kristen, Chelsea, Charlie, and Joshua, great grandchildren, Ben, Aiden, Kaylee, Jaicee, Macie, Jaedyn, Flora, Olivia, Tatum, Marlon, Messiah, Layla, Blake, and Carter, and a great great grandchild, River Dean.
