Norma Jean (Stephens) King, age 87 years 4 months and 1 day, went to be with the Lord on Saturday August 8, 2020, from her home with in Pine Knot, Kentucky with her family by her side.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 10, 2020 at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God. Burial was in the Pine Knot Cemetery.
Norma Jean was born April 7, 1933, in Revelo, Ky. to Norman Joe Stephens and Cordelia (Kidd) Stephens. After graduating high school, she attended Cumberland College and majored in education and began teaching at the Bald Knob School. Her teaching career lasted 39 years and was a positive role model for countless students. She was well respected by her students and fellow educators.
She met and later married Boyce Dean King on July 17, 1965 and they built a life together of 55 years. Norma Jean was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God. She loved to read and crochet, often making gifts of snowmen and table cloths for her friends and family. She loved to garden, can, and preserve her harvest. But mostly enjoyed church, family gatherings and caring for her family.
Norma Jean is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Virginia Elouise Shepherd, a brother, Charles Stephens, and a special niece, Keshia Stephens. She is survived by her husband, Boyce Dean King and daughter Sonia Denise King, both of Pine Knot, son, Curtis King and his wife, Melissa, grandchildren, Paige, Matthew, and MaKayla, all of Winchester, two special nieces, Patricia Gregory, of Pine Knot, and Pam Duncan of Whitley, City, a sister, Rosalene Stephens, two brothers, Russell Stephens and his wife, Sharon, John Arthur Stephens and his wife, Doris Faye, and a sister-in-law, Carol Stephens, all of Pine Knot, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Norma Jean was a faithful Christian lady who honored Christ and her family by her shining example of faith and character. She is profoundly missed and fondly remembered.
