Obituary for Peggy Sue Newsom (Bates)
Peggy Sue Newsom, age 68, wife of Worley Newsom, of Pine Knot, KY, departed this life on December 27, 2023 at the UK Albert Chandler Hospital and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. James Upchurch and Bro. Jim Upchurch officiating. Burial was in the Newsom Cemetery.
She was born, April 14, 1955 to the late William Bates and Adel Flynn Bates (Honeycutt). Proceeding her in death are her parents, William Bates and Adele Honeycutt, and sister, Betty Vanover.
Survivors include husband, Worley Newsom, whom she married August 9, 1977, two children, a daughter, Lisa (Mark) Herrmann, a son, Brian (Joani) Newsom of Pine Knot Ky, eight grandchildren, Ashley Taylor (Robbie), Chelsea Newsom-Moran (Dylan), Tiffany Corder (Austin), Zachary Newsom (Kaylee), Brittney Iseral (Ethan), Sebastian Herrmann (Christa), Ryan Herrmann (Rachel), Hunter Herrmann, seven great grandchildren, Taylor Chambers, Desmond, Brennex, and Everliegh Corder, Nolan Herrmann, Adalynn Dople, Kreed Taylor with 2 more on the way, brothers Tommy Bates, Ricky(Lora) Bates, Johnny (Mary) Bates, Frankie (Phyllis) Bates, and James Bates, a sister Elizabeth (Jim) Upchurch, and many other family and friends.
Peggy was known most for her caregiving as that was her passion. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and visiting other family and friends when she was able.
