Obituary for R L Terry

R. L. Terry age 88 years, and 17 days, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, December 16, 2021, in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Hickman Cemetery.

He was born November 24, 1933, in Fidelity, Kentucky to Harvey Terry and Hattie M. Nichols. R. L. was a member of the New Haven United Baptist Church where he had been a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He operated Troxell Furniture in Whitley City for many years, but R L was probably best known for his ability to rebuild carburetors. Many people in the county and surrounding areas saved hundreds of dollars due to his uncanny knowledge and talent.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Faye Winchester Terry, brothers, Paul Terry, Silas Terry, and J. T. Terry, and sisters, Helen Terry, and Mae Foster.

Survivors include his son, Dester Terry, and wife, Carol, daughter, Lynn Strunk, and husband, Gerald, sisters, Fayrene Roberts, and Wanda Phillips, grandson, Jason Creekmore and his wife, Mindy, great grandchildren, Kennedy and Maylee Creekmore, and special friend Danny Worley.
