Ralph was born on December 25, 1949 to William M.”Bill” Trammell and Luvena Chinn Trammell in the Jellico Creek Community of Whitley County. The Trammell family moved to Pine Knot when Ralph was a youngster and he grew up there. He helped with the work on their farm and learned to trade on horses from his dad and inherited his love for fishing from his mom. After graduating from Pine Knot High School, Ralph entered the US Army, and served in Okinawa. He was decorated for his outstanding service. After being discharged from the service, Ralph went to Cincinnati to find work. He worked briefly in a shoe factory and for a time at Fischer Body in Norwood. Later he would take a job with Ford, where he would spend the next 30 years working his way up to gauge layout and repair inspector. After his retirement, he moved to Sebring, Florida where he pursued his passion for fishing. Ralph and Peggy were famous for their hospitality and hosting large fish frys. Ralph regaled his family and friends with his hilarious stories and comical mannerisms. Ralph also had a big heart. He was an active member of the Sebring Moose Lodge, where he worked tirelessly to help provide Christmas to the underprivileged children. He loved to play Santa Clause for them. Ralph was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, joining in Norwood, Oh and transferring to the Felicity Lodge #102. He was also a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union #863, the Felicity VFW Post 7496, VFW Post 4300 in Florida, and the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God, the church his father helped establish. Keeping with a long standing Trammell family tradition, Ralph and Peggy helped to establish a non denominational church in Sebring. Ralph was well known and loved around the horse sale barns and stockyards .He and his brother Larry Dale, were always in the thick of things, “trading and swapping” and making a dollar or two.

Ralph was larger than life in many ways. With his swagger and outgoing personality, he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. New generations of Trammells will be telling Uncle Ralph stories and in our minds we will hear that laugh and see that sparkle in his eyes, as when he would tell a “whopper”. Our comfort comes as it always does in our family, from our faith In Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, and Ralph’s testimony of being a born again Child of God.

Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Ralph Trammell.
