Obituary for Retha Mae Griffis (Edmonds)
Retha Mae Griffis, age 89, widow of the late Robert Griffis of Whitley City, passed away Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 20th, at 11:00am, in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. The family received friends on Tuesday, March 19th, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Burial followed the service in the Hickman Cemetery.
Retha was born on January 1st, 1935 to Archie and Martha (Brumett) Edmonds. She spent every moment possible with her family. Retha was a homemaker, making sure everything she did was to help and supply for her family. She enjoyed collecting dolls, completing crossword puzzles, painting by number, and needle point embroidery.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Martha Edmonds, her husband Robert Griffis, one son, Robert Griffis Jr., one daughter, Regina Griffis, and two sisters, Candy Edmonds, and Janie Lundy.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin Griffis and his wife Katherine of Lexington, and Michael and his wife Diane of Strunk, three grandchildren, Devin Lawson, Conner Griffis, and Kayln Hacker and her husband Steve, and two great grandchildren, Shayla Lawson and Kason Lawson.
