Obituary for Rev. Calvin Corder
Rev. Calvin Corder, age 94, of Whitley City, Kentucky passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Corbin, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Hobert Corder, Bro. Harvey Corder, and Bro. Allen Coffey officiating. Burial was in the Clearview Cemetery.
He was born October 3, 1925 in the Jones Hollow Community to Hobert Corder and Mary Margaret Jones Corder. Calvin had worked as a coal miner for the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company until his retirement. He was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in 1958 and served as Pastor to many churches throughout the years. He was a charter member of Clearview United Baptist Church. In his spare time, Calvin enjoyed cattle farming and raising a big garden.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Ruby Shoopman Corder, whom he married November 21, 1944, brother, Virgil and sisters, Ilene and Gladys.
Survivors include a son, Larry Corder and his wife, Marla, of Whitley City, daughters, Betty Corder Ingram and her husband, Lonnie, of Ohio, Shirley Corder Tucker and her husband, Arnold, of Bronston, Sandra Corder Clark and her husband, Larry, of Whitley City, and Beverly Gail Corder Wilson and her husband, David "Bud", of Stearns, brothers, Rev. Harvey Corder of Somerset, Charlie Corder of Smithtown, and Gary Corder and his wife, Ila, of Whitley City, sisters, Elizabeth Worley of Florida and Corena Tucker of Parkers Lake, eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
