Obituary for Rev. Chester A. Morgan

Rev. Chester A. Morgan, known to his friends as Sheriff, age 97 years, 6 months, and 21 days, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Braxton King officiating. Burial was in the Angel Cemetery.

He was born in Smithtown, Kentucky April 28, 1923. He was married to his beloved wife, Jessie Lee Morgan of Stearns, Kentucky for 56 years. He served as Associate Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church for 29 years.

Survivors include Ted Morgan and wife, Patti, Sue Davidson and husband,d Earl, Jim Morgan and wife, Shelia, Fran Morgan, Breyn Reynolds and husband, David.

Preceding in death was a son, James Arlon Morgan, grandchildren, Laura Ann Morgan and Phillip Lee Morgan, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.

He had 10 grandchildren, Daniel Morgan, David Morgan, Doug Morgan, Jenny Morgan, Warren Davidson, Robin, Karen, John Rich, 14 great-grandchildren Isa Morgan, Gabriel Morgan, Alexandra Morgan, Nicholas, Maddy Renner, Finley Renner, Zackory Davidson, Rachel Davidson, Taylor Godwin, Caleb Stapleton, Baylee Delbridge, Bryson Delbridge, Devon Reynolds, and Ty Blankenship. Chesters Best friends were Doyle Morgan and Hubert Duncan.

Chester was a loving husband and father. He loved his family. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid golfer for many years. He loved to be on the go all the time. Chester was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and loved people.

He was a WWII Veteran serving in North Africa. He worked for Dixie Transport in Whitley City, NU Car Drive in Detroit, Michigan, Stearns Coal Mine, and worked many other jobs to provide for his family.
