Obituary for Rev. Richard Aker Jr.

Rev. Richard Aker, Jr., age 82 years, 8 months, and 3 days, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 Riverside Avenue, Loveland, Ohio. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Ohio.

He was born June 27, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Richard Aker, Sr. and Helen Eaton Aker. Rev. Aker worked in the controls and instruments department of Proctor and Gamble for twenty seven years before his retirement. He was a member of the New Haven Church of God in Harrison, Ohio. Rev. Aker was a credentialed minister in the Church of God, Cleveland Assembly for over sixty years. He also had pastored the Loveland Church of God for twenty seven years as well as many other Churches of God in southwest Ohio and finished his ministry as an ordained Bishop. During his ministry, he performed countless weddings, baptisms, and funeral services. Rev. Aker also counseled and mentored many young ministers. During his spare time, he loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed Sudoko. He also loved to tinker. Rev. Aker was always thinking and loved to invent things. He was a dedicated caregiver to our mother over the last few years and was also a committed husband to his wife of sixty three years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Don, and sisters, Juanita and Laverne.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, whom he married June 4, 1955, sons, Richard Aker, III and his wife, Abria, of Loveland, Ohio and Davy J. Aker of Palm Springs, California, a daughter, Deborah Hansford and her husband, Darrell, of Whitley City, Kentucky, four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
