Obituary for Ronnie Brooks
Ronnie Brooks, age 74 years, 2 months, and 3 days, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie King officiating. Burial was in the Carter Cemetery.
He was born July 23, 1949, in Somerset, Kentucky, to Homer Brooks and Kathryn Young Brooks. Ronnie was a member of the First Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was a Mason at the Stone Lodge in Pike County. Ronnie had worked in the coal mines as an electrician before his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, especially football. Ronnie enjoyed cooking and made some of the best food you will ever eat.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and sisters, Kay Rogowski and Carol Harlow.
Survivors include children, Rhonda James, and husband, Corbet, Ron Brooks, Kelli Blankenship, and husband, Joshua, Tiffany Jones, and Nathan Johnson, and Joni Brooks, and Josh Walters, sister, Jennie Harris, and husband, Julian, grandchildren, Jaret, Heather, Chaston, Maddox, Baylee, Zander, and Brixlee, great grandchildren, Kylie and Brooks and special niece and nephew, Alan and Kathy Sams.
