Obituary for Ruth Ann Jones (Keith)
Ruth Ann Jones, age 81 years, and 5 months, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at her home in Whitley City, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley and Bro. Mike Casada officiating.
She was born Friday, October 27, 1939 in Caryville, Tennessee to Hoover Keith Sr. and Mildred Smith Keith. She Attended Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth Ann, along with her husband John, owned and operated Jones Grocery and the Stearns Restaurant for many years. During that time they also opened a roller rink, upstairs in the old Stearns High School gym in 1978. In 1980 they opened Skateland Skating Rink, and operated it until 2005. She was also a cook with the McCreary County School system for almost 20 years. She loved to keep busy and enjoyed crocheting, raising flowers, being outside, and spending time with her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and two infant sisters.
Survivors include her loving husband, John Jones, her high school sweetheart whom she married on Nov. 8, 1958. A son Don Jones, and wife, Lisa, two daughters, Diana Stanley, and husband, Tunney and Beth Stephens, and husband, Wayne, three brothers, Hoover Keith Jr., and wife, Judy, Mike Keith, and wife Barbara, and David Keith, and wife, Judy, six grandchildren, Marlainna Herron Terry, Valerie Herron, Zack Jones, and wife, Megan, Leanze Kuhnapfel, and husband, Justin, Macee Lyons, and Ethan Stephens, 5 great grandchildren, Hughston Terry, Deegun Terry, Zane Jones, Baylee Lyons, Luka Kuhnapfel, and one great grandchild on the way.
