Obituary for Silas W. Nevels

Silas Nevels, age 95 years, 6 months, and 3 days, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, 2021, in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Nevelsville Cemetery.

He was born May 17, 1926, in Nevelsville, Kentucky to James O. “Hob” Nevels and Mattie Ann Young Nevels. Silas was a World War II Army Veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member at UAW in Cincinnati. Silas was an avid golfer, bowler, and target shooter and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Violet Nevels, brothers, David Nevels, Hayden Nevels, Herman Nevels, George Nevels, and Coy Nevels, and sister, Clara Nevels Keith.

Survivors include wife, Wanda Nevels, son, Craig Nevels, and wife, Denise, daughter, Connie Howard, and husband, Brian, stepsons, Kevin Nevels, and Jeff Nevels, and wife, Sue, grandchildren, Stephanie, and husband, Andy, Jason, and wife, Laura, Kelly, and husband, Matthew, and Sean, and great grandchildren, Steven, Olivia, and Silas.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to DAV, American Kidney Fund, and Alzheimer’s Fund.
