Obituary for William Bill Maki

William Steven “Bill” Maki age 69 years, 7 months, and 29 days, of Amelia, Ohio passed away Thursday April 22, 2021 at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia, Ohio and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Christian funeral services were held Saturday May 1, 2021 at the Hilltop Baptist Church. The family received friends after 11:00 am Saturday May 1 until service time at 1:00PM at the church. Burial followed in the Angel Cemetery.

Bill was born on August 26, 1951 in Groton, Massachusetts to Niilo Maki and Bertha (LeBlanc) Maki. He retired as a welder from the Polymet company and later drove a school bus for the Clermont County school system. He was a member of the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Amelia Ohio. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed camping, boating and hunting. But family gatherings were his favorite thing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debra (Troxell) Maki, son, Derek Maki, step-son, Nicholas Martin, daughter, Kimberly Maki, step-daughters, Misty Vanover and Kimberly Martin, sisters, Mary Warpula and Carol Maki, grandchildren, Madeline Minton, Keshia Vanover, Stacey Vanover, Peyton Martin, whom he helped raise, Bailey Martin, and Dallas and Alyssa Tucker, great grandchildren, Maverick Vanover and Gregory Louthern. His parents, a son, Wayne Maki, a brother, Wayne Maki, and a grandson, Blake Polley preceded him in death.
