Leslie "Les" Martin age 87 years and 17 days, the husband of Nelda Lewis Martin, of Revelo, Kentucky passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011 at his home. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Sewell and Bro. Robert Gilreath officiating. Burial followed in the New Liberty cemetery with full Military Honors. He was born January 24, 1924 in Duck Run of McCreary County to Andy Martin and Nola Davenport Martin. Les was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. Before his illness, Les was a truck driver and was also a member of the New Liberty Church. He was a vivid outdoorsman who enjoyed sightseeing and fishing as well as, spending time and caring for his family. Preceding him in death are his parents; a son, Gary Martin; brothers, Lee, Leonard, Robert and Wilburn Martin; sisters, Ella Waters, Emily Sargent, Elizabeth Maxey, and Ethel Wyatt. Survivors include his wife Nelda Martin, whom he married December 18, 1976; sons, Kenneth Martin and his wife, Judy, of Helenwood, Tennessee, Eugene Martin of Somerset, Kentucky; daughter Maedean Sumner and her husband, Gerald, of Marshes Siding, Kentucky; sisters, Ellen Cox and Aggie Stephens, both of Pine Knot, Kentucky; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
