Betty Lou Tapley age 88 years of Whitley City, Kentucky, wife of Roy Tapley, passed away Monday March 16, 2026 at her home.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Higgenbotham Cemetery.

She was born on August 30, 1937, in White Oak Junction, Kentucky, to the late Luther Strunk and Grace Stephens Strunk. Betty was a devoted member of Old Beech Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and hiking, and took great pride in cooking for her family. Betty loved spending time with her family and found happiness in working in her yard, gardening, and caring for her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Danny Sawyer, sisters, Nancy Landers, Wilma Howard, and Doris Taylor.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Tapley, daughters, Diane Temple, and Peggy McCarty and husband, Phillip, brothers, Gary Strunk, Phillip Strunk, and wife, Dawn, sisters, Connie Martin and Glenna Perry, and grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan.
