Beverly Irene Murphy, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY, surrounded by her loving family. She fought courageously through recent surgeries before finding rest.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Pine Knot Cemetery.

Born on August 24, 1948, in Jellico, TN, Beverly spent most of her life in Stearns, KY, where she built a lasting legacy of education, service, and love. She dedicated her career to shaping young minds, first as a teacher at McCreary County High School from 1972 to 1998, and later as an advisor and instructor at the McCreary Center for Adult Education from 2002 to 2020. Many will remember her as a patient and passionate educator, always eager to guide and encourage her students.

Beverly's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ann Watson (Doug), and she was affectionately known as "Granny" to her cherished grandchildren: Emma Bender (Zach), Clara Karinen (Andrew), Tony Vowels (Angel), Beth Vowels, Ashley Moli (Aol), Brandon Watson (Darcy), and Paige Clark (Travis), nieces Stacy Hoskins and Heather Martin ( Justin) and sister-in-law Peggy Murphy.

Her love extended even further to her 23 great-grandchildren, whom she adored and frequently spoke of with pride, sharing stories and pictures of their latest adventures.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Lansford Murphy Sr. and Clara Irene Murphy Souleyrette, as well as her brother, Fred Lansford Murphy Jr.

In her retirement, Beverly found happiness in sewing, reading, and preserving her family's history. She was the family's go-to historian, passionately documenting the stories and lineage of those who came before.

Beverly's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
