Bill Lee Davis, age 87 years, 5 months, and 2 days, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home in Marshes Siding. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley and Bro. Roger Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Pine Knot Cemetery. He was born February 27, 1930 in Oneida, Tennessee to Charlie Davis and Azel Lovett Davis. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired signal maintainer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for over forty three years before his retirement. He was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church where he served as trustee. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, squirrel hunting, and mowing. He was also an avid UK sports fan. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Billie Jo Slaven Davis, brothers, Terry Davis, Jack Davis, Charles Davis, Mike Davis, and an infant brother, a sister, Lillian Carol Butler, and a great grandchild, Jolee. Survivors include his son, Larry Davis and his wife, Becky, of Whitley City, his daughter, Betsey Jones of Whitley City, brothers, Arlis Davis of Rome, Georgia, Jim Davis and his wife, Kay, of Whitley City, Dave Davis and his wife, Chris, of Hopkins, Michigan, and Johnny Davis and his wife, Carolyn, of Grainger, Indiana, sisters, Patricia Fultz and Martha Coffman, grandchildren, Shannon, Kelli, Micki, Gabriel, Cheri, and Ian, and a great grandchild, Chelsey.
