Billy Martin, age 73 years, 11 months and 21 days, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at his home in the Meadows Grove Community of Pine Knot, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Cassada, Bro. Robert Gilreath, and Elder Adamson officiating. Entombment was in the Pine Knot Cemetery. Born on October 25, 1943 in Pine Knot, to Fred Martin and Truie Hamlin Martin, Billy grew up helping on the family farm and working in timber and the saw mill. He never lost his passion for the hard work and spent his life working his sawmill and farming. Billy was always happiest at his mill. He also enjoyed raising a big garden every year, and enjoyed sharing vegetables with his friends and neighbors. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Bob Martin, and sister, Anna Fay Rogers. Billy is survived by his wife, Brenda Stephens Martin, son, Mike Martin and his wife, Colena, of Pine Knot, daughters, Melanie Cassada and her husband, Mike, of Stearns, Kentucky and Lisa King of Virginia, brother, Jimmy Martin and his wife, Connie, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, sister, Norma King and her husband, Willis, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, grandchildren, Tristian Martin, Hunter Martin, Chris Keeton, Andrea Jones, Dustin Keeton, Brianna Houchell, Rachael Cassada, Ryan Cassada, and Reece Cassada, and great grandchildren, Ryder, Bryson, and Teagean Marler, Brentley Phillips, Bella Ledbetter, and Breighlyn Jones. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Billy Martin.
