Claude "Toad" F. Taylor age 90 years, 7 months, and 4 days, of the Mill Creek Community in Parkers Lake, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Mill Creek Methodist Church with Bro. Dow Goodin and Bro. Allen Coffey officiating. Burial followed in the Mill Creek Cemetery. He was born May 20, 1925 in Sawyer, Kentucky to John Frank Taylor and Birley Adaline (Worley) Taylor. Claude was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Baptist Church and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in WWII from August 1943 to November 1945 and after being wounded in combat, was awarded a purple heart. He enjoyed working and providing for his family. During his working life, he worked as a logger, a farmer, a truck driver, and as a strip miner. In his spare time, Claude loved to go fishing with his family and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents; an infant son, Jamie Claude Taylor who died February 20, 1979; sons, Stanley Jewel and Ivan Neal; brothers, Clyde Taylor and Coy Taylor; sisters, Edith Barnett, Dorothy Clark, and Pauline Ridner; a grandson, Gary Burress; and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Hawkins. Survivors include his wife, Opal (Duncan) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, Kentucky; sons, Jerry Taylor of the Mill Creek Community, Jeffery Taylor and wife, Cindy, of the Day Ridge Community, Jacob Taylor of Winfield, Tennessee, and Shawn Neal; daughters, Cheryl Hill of Oneida, Tennessee, Penny Kennedy and husband, Donald, of the Day Ridge Community, Joy Taylor and companion, Dave Hibbard, of Helenwood, Tennessee, Janet Martin and companion, Larry Warman, of Greenwood, Kentucky, Judy Corder of Whitley City, Kentucky, Joetta Taylor of the Day Ridge Community, Jill Gaffney also of the Day Ridge Community, Betty Jewel and Mary Jewel; brothers, Calvin "Banty" Taylor and wife, Mary Lou, of Whitley City, Kentucky, and Fred Taylor and wife, Ruth, of the Mill Creek Community; sisters, Ellen Clark of Keavey, Kentucky, and Betty Jones of London, Kentucky; 38 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Pete and Wanda Perry; a special nephew, George Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Claude Taylor.
