Cora Marie Roberts, age 96 years,, 1 month, and 29 days, of Stearns, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at her home. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Ford and Bro. Hilton Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Powell Cemetery in Wayne County. She was born March 10, 1921 in Gregory, Kentucky to George Harrison Powell and Nannie Ethel Cox Powell. Cora was a member of the Stearns First Baptist Church. In addition to caring for her own family, she had cared for the homes and children of other members of the community including the Robert Gable family, the Frank Thomas family and the Dwayne King family. Cora was a very independent, hard working woman with a wonderful sense of humor who was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and has made countless quilts. One of her great joys was cooking for her friends and family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, Luther Coffey, her second husband, Thomas Ed Roberts, two sons, Tracy Coffey and Dean Roberts, a daughter, Wilma Jean Roberts Dobbs, brothers, Hubert Powell, Isaac Powell, and Hobert Powell, and a sister, Ora Thompson. Survivors include a son, Eddy J. Roberts and his wife, Sharon, of Huntsville, Tennessee, daughters, Wanda Lee Coffey of Strunk, Kentucky, Alma Faye Tucker of Hilltop, Kentucky, Phyllis Ann Williams of Stearns, Kentucky, and Glynna Sue Hatfield and her husband, Gordon, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, daughter-in-law, Jewell Roberts, sister-in-law, Lois Powell, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
