Dale "Dynamite" Smith, age 74, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 at the Pine Knot Cemetery in Pine Knot, KY. Mr. Smith received military honors at the cemetery. He was born May 22, 1946 in Stearns, Kentucky to Harold Smith and Rachel Shearer Smith. Dale retired from General Motors after 30 years of service, after serving in the US Army, during Vietnam. He married the former Jean Strunk, on November 15, 1969, recently celebrating 51 years together. He was also a member of Grace Fellowship, in Plainfield. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially UK basketball, watching Jeopardy, and visiting with friends. Dale found the most enjoyment in family and church activities. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, David Smith, and brothers-in- law, Cookie Joe Williams and Louis Moseley. Survivors include his wife, Jean, a son, Steve Smith and his wife, Betsy, grandchildren, Brock Smith and Gracie Jane Smith, a daughter, Susan Smith, sisters, Barbara Moseley, Genny Williams, and Sue Wright, and her husband, Cecil, and sister-in-law, Rachel Smith. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. Hickman-Strunk Funeral, Whitley City, KY served the family of Dale Smith.
