Darrel Dobbs, age 68 years, 8 months, and 6 days, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. George Allen Coffey officiating. Burial was in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery. He was born July 8, 1948 in Scott County Tennessee to Jacob "Jobe" and Lexie (Gregory) Dobbs. Darrel worked in the maintenance department at Oak Wood in Somerset, Kentucky, he had also worked in the steel mills and the coal mines. Darrel was a member of the Cherokee Baptist Church. He found pleasure playing his guitar, building things, fishing, hunting and spending time in the outdoors. Darrel truly loved caring for his family. Preceeding him in death were his parents, his wife, Brenda Sue (Black) Dobbs, and two brothers, Larry Dobbs and Billy Joe Dobbs. one sister, Zula Mae Dobbs. Survivors include a son, Darrel Ray and his wife Nina, of Stearns, Kentucky, two daughters, Pam Barnett, of Whitley City, Kentucky and Miranda Waters and her husband Nathaniel, of Morgantown, West Virginia, three brothers, Jerry Dobbs and his wife Kathy, Glenn Dobbs and Roger Dobbs and his wife Connie, five sisters, Betty Jean Koger and her husband Roger, Charlene Godsey , Polly Young and her husband, Dwaine, Beverly Jones and her husband, Bud and Margie Coffey and her husband, Jeffery all of Stearns, Kentucky. two grand-daughters, Laura Barnett and Macy Waters, three step-grandsons, Aaron Griffis, Ryan Griffis and Byron Griffis, and one step-great-grandson, Aiden Griffis.
