David Joseph Phillips, age 79, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Rock Springs United Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Corder Cemetery. He was born October 31, 1942, in Wayne County, Kentucky, to Ancil Phillips and Vina Jones Phillips. David had worked as a coal miner before his retirement and was a member of Rock Springs United Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, fishing, raising a big garden, and going to church. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Alice Jones Phillips, four brothers, two infant brothers, and two infant sisters. Survivors include a son, Joseph Phillips, and wife, Rebecca, daughters, Patsy New, Kathleen Gregory, and husband, Keeland, and Tammy Bryant, and husband, Tim, 18 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of David Joseph Phillips.
