Donald Hamlin, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, age 79, passed away after an extend illness, Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. Donald was a loving father, grandfather, and was happily married to his wife, Louise, for 59 years. Funeral Services were Friday, August 16, 2019 at 4:00pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial was in the King Cemetery. He was born December 8, 1939 in McCreary County to Oscar Hamlin and Minnie Martin. Donald was a well rounded man. He was a talented brick layer, carpenter, and cement finisher. He worked at General Motors as a factory worker for thirty and a half years and was also a heavy equipment operator. Donald was a member at the Revelo Church of God and was part of the Daleville, Indiana Freemason Lodge #730. For hobbies he loved to bowl and build race cars. NASCAR was something he was interested in and he had a lot of racing collectibles. Towards the end of his life, he was a patient of Lifeline Home Health and stayed at the Signature Healthcare nursing home in Pine Knot. Donald is preceded in death by: his father, Oscar Hamlin; his mother, Minnie Martin; one son, Robby Hamlin; and a host of brothers and sisters. He is survived by: his wife, Louise Hamlin; one son, Michael Lee Hamlin; two brothers, Bobby Hamlin and Dorman Hill; one sister, Wanda Sellers; a granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Schneider; one great granddaughter, Sadie Nicole Schneider; friends; extended family including, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one young man who was special to him, Donovan Sellers.
