Donald L. Torstrick, 85, of Manteno and formerly of Kankakee, Illinois passed away Saturday, October 3 at his son's home. He was born November 28, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Herman E. and Eugenia (Rusterholtz) Torstrick. He married Delores King (Frank Ruben and Zora King) on February 27, 1954 in Louisville. Donald graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville and received his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Louisville in June 1958. He served his country from 1951-1953 as a private, stationed in France. He moved his family to Kankakee in 1965 when he joined Azzarelli Construction Company as Comptroller. Donald had a long, successful career in the road construction industry, including 13 years with Azzarelli and 22 years with Kenneth R. Hartman Inc., as General Manager. He was a lifetime 3rd degree and 4th degree Knights of Columbus and was active at various time with CCD and his churches and with the Boy Scouts. He served as an usher at St. Patrick's Church in Kankakee for 38 years. He was an avid golfer and served as a charter board member of the Manteno Golf Club. Survivors include his wife, of Manteno/Kankakee; a son, Paul and Marsha Torstrick, of Manteno; four daughters, Rebecca Torstrick and Jeffrey Sutter of South Bend, Ind., Jennifer Ortiz, of Kankakee, Kathleen and Wesley Howard, of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Jeannine and Blaine Martin of Jasper, Ind.; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three nephews and two nieces; and many others who were honorary members of the family. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother and sister; and his son, Mark Torstrick. Graveside services were held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Wright Cemetery. The family received friends on Saturday, after 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home until time for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Donald Torstrick.
