Edna Hoover, age 92 years, 7 months, and 29 days of Lexington, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 in Lexington. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 4:00 pm graveside at the Pine Knot Cemetery with Bro. Hap Strunk officiating. She was born May 25, 1924 in Virginia to Finley Hicks and Nola Anderson Hicks. Edna was a member of the McCreary County Church of Christ. She taught in the McCreary School System before her retirement, having taught at Smithtown Elementary for around 40 years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Ora Hoover, and brother Ruben Hicks. Survivors include her son, Gary Hoover and his wife, Sarah, of Lexington, Kentucky, a sister, Faye Thomas, sister-in-law, Gladys Hicks, nephew Bruce Thomas, and niece, Barbara Darabant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
