Edward Sylvester Shook, age 82 years, 4 months, and 28 days, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Hap Strunk and Dylan Jones officiating. Burial was in the Spradlin Cemetery. He was born June 19, 1935 in Stearns, Kentucky to Sylvester Shook and Goldie Gregory Shook. Edd was a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana and had been a heavy equipment operator for Weddle Enterprises before his retirement. He enjoyed camping, boating and fishing. Edd also loved to listen to live music and dance and cruise around on his motorcycle. He lived life to the fullest and also enjoyed helping anyone he could. Edd was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was viewed by many as everything a man should be. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Orene Hill Shook, and sisters,, Hazel Troxell, Shelby Jean King, and Iva Sue Jones. Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Jones of Whitley City, son-in-law, Tim Jones of Whitley City, grandson, Dylan Jones, brothers, Bill Shook and his wife, Jean, Bruce Shook and his wife, Joan, Jim Shook, Wayne Shook and his wife, Roxanne, and Dale Shook, sister, Ellen Coffey and her husband, Phillip, and brothers-in-law, Denzil King and Jessie Troxell. Hickman-Strunk was honored to serve the family of Edward Shook.
