Ellouise Virginia Shepherd age 76 years, 6 months, and 4 days old, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday June 10, 2015 in Lexington, Kentucky at the UK Medical Center. Celebration of life services were held Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 11:00am at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God with Bro. William Kilby and Bro. Harold Baird officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery. She was born December 6, 1938 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to Norman and Cordelia (Kidd) Stephens. Ellouise was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God. She was devoted to her church and helped raise money for the building fund by baking and selling her legendary coconut crème pies. Ellouise graduated from Cumberland College as a Rank I in Education. Before retiring, she had taught school in Harrison, Ohio, Silver Grove, Kentucky, Harlan County, Kentucky, and McCreary County, Kentucky. She enjoyed her John Deere Tractor, keeping house, gardening, caring for animals, cooking, sewing, and knitting. Ellouise was also very family oriented. She enjoyed being a grandmother and a special aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She was the favorite great-grandchild of her great-grandmother Sally Stephens and was always joking called the meanest child her mother raised. Preceding her in death are her parents. Survivors include her son, Stuart Shepherd and wife, Michelle of Pine Knot, Kentucky; brothers, Charles Stephens and wife, Carol, John A. Stephens and wife, Doris Faye, and Russell Stephens and wife, Sharon all of Pine Knot, Kentucky; sisters, Rosie Stephens and Norma Jean King and husband, Boyce both of Pine Knot, Kentucky; grandchildren, Makinley Shepherd, Jarrod Johnson and wife, Beth, and Travis Burress; a great grandchild, Lily Johnson. She also leaves her two dogs that she loved, Sampson and Oliver. Her nephews, Curtis King, Matthew King, Norman Joe Stephens, John Stephens, Neil Stephens, Josh Stephens, and Logan Stephens served as Pallbearers. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Ellouise Shepherd.
