Elsie Wallen, age 81 years, and 23 days, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Beech Tree Manor in Jellico, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Taylor and Bro. Christopher Wallen officiating. Burial was in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery. She was born February 17, 1936 in the New Liberty community of McCreary County, Kentucky to Henderson Cox and Bell Zora (Bryant) Cox. Elsie worked as a cook in the McCreary County School System for 15 years and was a member of the Marshes Siding Church of God. Elsie found pleasure in gardening, and was excellent at embroidering, and fishing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her daughter Judy Faye, and her sisters Katheryn Taylor, and Cynthia King. Survivors include her husband Manuel Wallen Junior, of Revelo, Kentucky, two sons Gary Wallen and his wife Linda, of Oneida, Tennessee, Larry Wallen and his wife Teresa, of Revelo, Kentucky, one grandson, Christopher Wallen and his wife Jessica, of Whitley City, Kentucky, and three great grandchildren Bryson, Breanna, and Brylee.
