Frances Ball, age 71 years, 10 months, and 21 days, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Bethesda Hospital North in Cincinnati, Ohio after battling COPD and cancer. She was born January 3, 1946 to Fred Lee and Pauline Slaven but was raised by her paternal grandparents, Rev. Joseph and Betty Slaven, whom she lovingly referred to as Mom and Dad. Frances had eight siblings and is survived by three, Jan Reed of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, George Slaven of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Don Slaven of Harrogate, Tennessee. Frances loved life and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed "cutting up" with those she held dear in her life. Frances held several jobs while living in Ohio, but if you asked her what she wanted to be her answer was always "all I ever wanted to be is a mother," a job in which she excelled. She left behind three children who loved and adored her, Jackie Ball of Fairfield, Ohio, Steven Ball of Monroe, Ohio, and Rebecca Ball of Somerset, Kentucky. "We will see you on the far side banks of Jordan, Mom." Frances cherished her two grandchildren, Kailyn Ball and Abby Ball. Frances was a woman of strong faith, she loved and worshipped her Heavenly Father. She was a friend to many and touched many lives with her compassionate and caring nature. After moving back to Kentucky, she volunteered at a day treatment facility which provided activities for the elderly or those with disabilities. She would assist with meals, crafts, and chaperoning trips. But most importantly she was a caring friend in which they could confide.
