Gary Sewell, age 73 years, 9 months, and 21 days passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at his home in Pine Knot, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 18, 2021, in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial followed in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery. He was born November 25, 1947 in Muncie, Indiana to Elby Sewell and Lois Bell Sewell. Gary was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a retired signal maintainer for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Gary enjoyed archery and bow hunting. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his sons, Matthew Sewell, and wife, Valerie, and Brian Sewell, brother, Mark Sewell, and wife, Sherry, sister, Marilyn Casada, and husband, Roger, 3 grandchildren, Stephen, Veronica, and Jacob Sewell, and four great grandchildren, Kenlyn, Brecklyn, Mason, and Beckett.
