Gerry L. Freeman was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 18, 1957 and woke up in the arms of Jesus on July 8, 2026. He resided in McCreary County, KY and was 69 years of age.

Funeral services were held Monday July 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

Gerry dedicated his entire life to and loved music. He especially enjoyed playing the drums for several bands over his lifetime. Some of Gerry's fondest achievements was having the opportunity to be the drummer for the band, Exile and to drum for Ricky Skaggs at the Grand Ole Opry. He loved playing drums with his local friends and musicians, Hap Strunk, Bill Roberts, Don Slaven, Dillard Anderson, Audie McQueary, Bridget Turner, Odell Smith, Tom Smith, Tooley Daulton and many more. Gerry also enjoyed studio drumming for several artists over the years.

Gerry had many jobs in public service as well over the years, but the one job he was most proud of was working for 20+ years in the medical field as a paramedic EMT for Scott County TN, a paramedic EMT for McCreary County, Ky, a PA at Jane Todd Hospital in Greensburg, KY and a paramedic EMT for the Green County EMS in Greensburg, KY.

Gerry was especially proud of and loved spending time with his very special friend and significant other, Saundra Gisler, whom he loved dearly, and cherished with all of his heart.

Gerry enjoyed attending his church at the Calloway Baptist Church with Brother Jason Medley as his Pastor, where he recently rededicated his life to Christ this past Sunday!

Gerrys children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He would always tell everyone he saw and them how proud of them he was and that they were his greatest achievement in life.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Glenna Slaven Freeman and Herman Freeman; his grandfather, Clyde Freeman; his two sisters, Joanna Freeman and April Freeman; his oldest son, Gary Freeman; his cousin Ronnie Slaven, his third wife, Angela Freeman; and his infant granddaughter, Kara Freeman.

Gerry is survived by his children, Kris Lewallen (wife Taylor) of Scott County, TN; Phillip Freeman (wife Katherine) of Campbellsville, KY; Laura Lambes (husband Allen) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. His stepchildren, Emily Gisler, and Andrew Gisler. His grandchildren, Austin Lewallen, Bryson Lewallen (wife Alize), Kaidance Lewallen, Karsten Lewallen, Quentin Freeman, Rhiann Millican (husband Trevor), Zayden Shaffer, Jason Freeman, and Lucy Lambes. His step-grandchildren BriAnna Gisler and Ben Cole. His great grandchildren, Kristofer James Lewallen, Ivy Lewallen, and Marlee Kline. His significant other, Saundra Gisler; his first wife, Pam Nauert, his second wife, Ona Lewallen; cousin, Ricky Freeman, and Aunt Irene Freeman Abramo (husband Joe), many other relatives and friends whom he cherished deeply.
