Gladys Hicks, age 95 years, 10 months, and 4 days, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Hap Strunk officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery. Born July 15, 1925 in Barthell, Kentucky to Frank Cooper and Kizzie Winchester Cooper. Gladys worked with her husband Reuben Hicks in their law practice for over 50 years and knew as much law as anyone. She was a member of the Whitley City First Baptist Church. In her younger years, Gladys enjoyed boating on Lake Cumberland. But always enjoyed family gatherings, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Preceding her in death was her parents, her husband, Ruben Hicks, and 10 siblings. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, Special friends Wade and Thressa Baird, and their daughter Kelli-Anne, who was like a granddaughter to Gladys. Gladys was a learned, classy lady. Her quiet lifestyle and her faith in Christ, inspired everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
