Hazel Matthews age 71 years and 1 day of Crittenden, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Florence, Kentucky. A family gathering was held Friday, August 14, 2015 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. In accordance with Mrs. Matthews wishes her remains were cremated. She was born August 8, 1944 in Co-Operative, Kentucky to Sterling Sr. and Ester (Dobbs) Coffey. Hazel had retired from Crown Temporary Service and Procter and Gamble. Preceding her in death are her parents; a brother, Sterling Coffey, Jr.; and a sister, Joann Coffey. Survivors include her son; James Matthews of Crittenden, Kentucky; a brother, Kenneth Wade Coffey and wife, Lora of Alcoa, Tennessee; sisters, Joyce Nelson of Stearns, Kentucky, Ellen Combs of Hamilton, Ohio, and Susan Marcum of West Chester, Ohio; and 3 grandchildren. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Hazel Matthews.
