Wilda Irene Burchfield, age 93 years and 12 days, of Strunk, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Private funeral services were held Thursday, January 7, 2021 in the Josh Wilson Cemetery with brother Norman Burke officiating. Irene was born December 24, 1927 in Strunk, Kentucky to Maynard Daugherty and Essie Strunk Daugherty. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was a very talented potter who made and sold beautiful hand thrown pottery through Kentucky Hills Industries. Irene enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and homemaking. She loved spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Travis Burchfield whom she married December 27, 1946 in Rossville Georgia, a son, Garry Dean Burchfield, her daughter, Donna Foster, a brother, Lenville Daugherty, a sister, Agnes Daugherty, and sisters-in-law, Bernice Daugherty and Beatrice Daugherty. Survivors include sons, David Burchfield and his wife, Diane, and Freddie Burchfield, both of Strunk, a son-in-law, Haskell Foster of Winfield, a brother, Aaron Daugherty, grandchildren, Davy Burchfield and his wife, Mikki, Treresa White and her husband, Tony, and Travis Crabtree and his wife, Linda, and great grandchildren, Daniel and Hannah Burchfield, and Matthew, Josh, and Kassidy White. Irene will be missed by so many people who loved her. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Irene Burchfield.
